How long it takes to make a Roblox game

It depends on three things: the genre, what you already know how to do, and the tool. An obby by hand takes days; a simulator with saves and a shop, weeks; an RPG, months. With Builblox, four minutes separate a fresh account from a first build in Roblox Studio, and a complete game lands in a few dozen minutes. Here is the detail, without rounding in our favour.

    By hand, in Roblox Studio

Time mostly goes into what nobody sees: learning Luau, understanding where scripts go, making server and client talk, saving data without losing it, fixing what works in testing and breaks with ten players. A beginner takes weeks before a first tycoon collects a coin without an error. An experienced creator goes much faster, but still rebuilds the same core systems on every project.

    • Simple obby: a few days for a first one, checkpoints and timer included.
    • Tycoon or simulator: several weeks, because of saves, shop and balancing.
    • Round-based horror, survival, roleplay: weeks to months depending on map size.
    • RPG: months, sometimes a team.

    With Builblox

You describe the game, the AI proposes a plan of one to nine steps, you approve, and each step is written then placed in your place by the plugin. A one-to-three-step game takes a few minutes. A full nine-step plan, with saves, shop and leaderboard, takes longer, and you watch every operation land live in Studio. A verification pass then reads the whole thing without spending a credit.

What takes time after that is yours: playing, feeling what is off, asking for adjustments in the chat. That is the good time, the one that makes the game better, and the one the AI should not take from you.

What makes it longer, with or without AI

The same causes come back on every project.

    • A vague brief: "a cool game with pets" gives a vague plan. State the loop, the systems, the numbers.
    • Changing the idea midway: finish a playable version before dreaming up another.
    • Not testing: each step is checked by pressing Play, not at the end.
    • Wanting everything from day one: a map of fifty empty buildings takes longer than a block that works.

A realistic timeline for a first game

Day 1: account, plugin installed, brief written, first build and first test. Days 2 and 3: adjustments in the chat, balancing, thumbnail generated, publishing from Studio. Week 2: read what the first players do, add what is missing. The game exists from day one; what follows is making it loved.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I have a playable game today?

Yes, if you have Roblox Studio on a computer and the Builblox plugin. Describe a reasonably sized game, approve the plan, and test it within the hour.

Why do some steps take longer?

A code step with several scripts asks more work from the model than a scenery step. Frontier models, available on Pro and Studio, also write at greater length.
