Your Roblox game's Luau scripts, explained

Builblox writes ordinary Luau scripts and places them in the right spots of your place. You do not need to read them for the game to run, but knowing what they do sets you free: you change a price by hand, you understand an error message, and you know when to ask the AI rather than edit yourself. Here is the map.

    Three kinds of scripts

Roblox separates what runs on the server, what runs on each player's device, and what is shared. A game generated by Builblox contains all three.

    • Script: runs on the server. Money, purchases, saves, role picks, damage: everything a player must not be able to fake.
    • LocalScript: runs on the player's device. The GUI, keys, camera, the visual and sound effects only they see.
    • ModuleScript: a box of functions or settings, loaded by the other two. That is often where prices, levels and gamepass ids live.

    Where they live in Studio

A script's location decides where it runs. Builblox follows these conventions, which is why its scripts read like a developer's.

    • ServerScriptService: server Scripts, invisible to players.
    • StarterPlayerScripts: LocalScripts copied to each player on arrival.
    • StarterGui: the GUI, with the LocalScripts that drive its buttons.
    • ReplicatedStorage: what both server and players see: shared modules, RemoteEvents, models to clone.
    • Workspace, Builblox folder: the parts, models and scripts attached to a specific object, like a purchase button.

    How server and player talk

A LocalScript cannot grant money: it can only ask. It sends a signal through a RemoteEvent stored in ReplicatedStorage; a server Script listens, checks that the request is legitimate, then acts. In a generated script you recognise this dialogue by a line like "RemoteEvent:FireServer()" on the player side and "OnServerEvent:Connect()" on the server side. It is what stops a player from granting themselves coins by editing their own client.

The same logic applies to purchases: the server Script verifies the purchase with Roblox before granting the benefit. Move that check to the player side and you hand your shop to cheaters.

    Saving with DataStore

DataStore is Roblox's service that keeps a player's data from one session to the next: money, level, purchases, last checkpoint. A server Script loads that data on arrival and saves it on leave, and often at regular intervals for safety. In Studio, saves only work if API services access is enabled in the game settings, and the place must be published for Roblox to give it a data space.

Reading and editing a generated script

Open a script with a double-click in Studio's Explorer. At the top you usually find the settings: prices, speeds, durations, ids, sometimes grouped in a ModuleScript. Changing a number there is safe. Changing the logic below requires understanding what it does; the Output panel tells you which line breaks if you get it wrong.

When to ask the AI rather than edit by hand: as soon as the change touches several scripts at once, adds a system, or alters the server-player dialogue. Write the request in the same chat: Builblox reads the scripts as they are in your place, including the ones you edited, and changes only what is needed. And if a change does not suit you, Ctrl+Z in Studio undoes the whole step.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are Builblox scripts real Luau?

Yes. They are ordinary Scripts, LocalScripts and ModuleScripts, readable in Studio, with no proprietary format and no dependency on Builblox once placed. You can copy them into another project.

A red error shows in Output, what should I do?

Read the script name and line number shown, then paste the message into the Builblox chat and say what you were doing. The AI finds the script in your place and proposes the fix.

Do I need to learn Luau to use Builblox?

No. But every generated game is a chance to read some: the scripts are organised the way a developer would, which makes them a good way to learn.
